Handley Elementary School update

On October 26 many of the Handley Elementary School staff toured the Protsman Elementary School in Dyer, Indiana.  The new Handley Elementary School will have many similar features to this school.

The link below will take you to a collection of photos put together by one of the teachers on the tour.

Blog comment and response

Comment: (from a Boston MS teacher - 10/12/16):
Why were the Handley teachers able to give input on the design of their new building and the Boston teachers only met with you (the design team) once and never had any input on the design or layout of our building? Will there be class for team teaching or just regular classes. We are being left out of the loop.

Response:
The design team intends to conduct the same "puzzle piece" exercise with the middle level staffs once the programs are better defined.  The process of gathering information about how the educational program will be delivered in a 5-6 and 7-8 configuration is just beginning, and the layouts of potential buildings and spaces will follow.

The current images of the new Handley represent a collection of successful components from all of the other LaPorte elementary facilites. Equity and opportunity were major drivers in the discussions and planning.  This was the result of assessments and discussions with each of the building administrators, as well as input from many of the staff.
